- As wild horses were being driven up the chute during what was hoped for to be a quiet removal operation in Theodore Roosevelt National Park, North Dakota, the helicopter driving them was so low, one of the skids caught the fence and flipped the copter. The wild horses have lived in the Park for decades but have never been granted federal protection. NPS Superintendent Valerie Naylor ignored letters from horse advocate groups protesting the Stockmens livestock auction in Dickinson where the wild horses are traditionally disposed of and shocked employees ended up releasing those captured, canceling their "sale" due to the accident.
